We are seeking an outstanding, inspirational and ambitious Director of Italian to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional teacher and leader to shape and lead Italian across the College, inspire a love of Italian language, literature and culture, and contribute fully to the academic, pastoral and co-curricular life of the College.

Responsibilities
Lead the Italian department across the College, setting its vision, direction and standards.
Design and oversee a coherent Italian curriculum from complete beginners to near-native speakers across Years 1-13.
Line manage, support and develop departmental staff as the school grows.
Monitor and improve teaching and learning through observation, coaching and professional development.
Teach a substantial timetable across the age and ability range, acting as a model of outstanding classroom practice.
Ensure pupils achieve high levels of fluency in reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Oversee assessment, reporting, target setting and examination outcomes.
Lead enrichment activities including academic competitions, reading and film clubs, drama, public speaking and cultural visits.
Support pupils with university applications and academic aspirations.
Contribute to pastoral care, tutoring responsibilities and the wider co-curricular life of the College.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to uphold the Brighton College values of Curiosity, Confidence and Kindness.
Contribute actively to safeguarding, wellbeing and the wider life of the College.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Italian or a related discipline studied in Italian, with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification preferred.
Native fluency in Italian and excellent English proficiency.
Qualification in teaching Italian as a second language (DITALS, CEDILS, DILS-PG or similar) is desirable.
Strong experience teaching GCSE/IGCSE and IB Diploma Programme Italian courses.
Previous leadership or management experience within a languages department, or clear evidence of readiness to lead.
Proven track record of excellent teaching and strong public examination outcomes.
Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
International school experience or an international outlook is desirable.
