Learning Support Assistant (Maternity Cover)

Brighton College Dubai is looking for a talented Learning Support Assistant. Reporting to the Senior School SENCo the Learning Support Assistant (Maternity Cover) will provide short-term support for pupils within the Senior School Inclusion Department, ensuring continuity of provision for pupils with additional learning needs and enabling them to access the curriculum successfully across a range of subjects.

Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils with additional learning needs in lessons across the Senior School curriculum.
• Implement strategies and accommodations outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs), pupil profiles and examination access arrangements.
• Encourage pupils to develop independence, self-advocacy skills and effective study habits.
• Provide targeted support to individual pupils and small groups under the direction of the Inclusion Teacher.
• Assist pupils in organising their work, managing deadlines and developing executive functioning skills.
• Support the delivery of intervention programmes as directed by the Inclusion Team.
• Work collaboratively with subject teachers to adapt resources and support access to learning.
• Assist with internal and external examinations in accordance with approved access arrangements.
• Support pupils during assessments, examinations and study periods where required.
• Promote positive behaviour, resilience and engagement in learning.
• Maintain accurate records as required by the Inclusion Department.
• Uphold confidentiality and professional standards at all times.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with adolescents and young people.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively across multiple subject areas and with a range of teaching staff.
• Confidence in supporting pupils to develop independent learning skills.
• Competent IT skills and familiarity with educational technology.
• Flexible, proactive and able to respond to the changing needs of pupils and the department.

Pastoral Responsibilities

• Support the personal, social and emotional wellbeing of pupils.
• Promote the College's values, expectations and inclusive ethos.
• Encourage pupils to develop confidence, responsibility and independence.
• Support pupils in managing the academic and social demands of Senior School life.
• Adhere to all College policies, including Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures.
• Act as a positive role model through professional conduct and high expectations.
